Following up on EPA Effluent Guidelines item posted today, I also noticed that the agency in August also was encouraging NPDES permit fee programs for industry via a $5.1 million incentive program for states that don't charge fees or charge very little to date.

The USEPA published its final 2008 Effluent Guidelines Program Plan on Sept. 15, 2008, with detailed reviews scheduled in 2009 and 2010 for the steam electric power generating industry; the coalbed methane extraction portion of the oil and gas industry; and unused pharmaceutical disposal in the health services industry.
