Rain Water Harvesting is an acient method to water conservation, but was not taken into recognisance fully till the 19th century.
We are all water harvesters as roof water collected can be used for domestic cleansing, and storm water and runoff water for irrigation etc. This process should be used more even as ocean/sea water is harvested.

In my City,Bharuch,Gujarat,India, the rain water from the roofs of almost all Houses,is sent/diverted, to Sea,as per Municipal Order,by pipes. Will not the Ground Water table, deplete, obviously? Can you help me in taking this matter up, with the Bharuch Municipality?
hello SADASIVAN K. V., i would want you to get some materials together, to make this idea easily and quickly acceptable by your audience. First of all, get some pictures of the sites where the roof water is channeled to pipes, to the sea. Then write a proposal on water harvesting: immediate and long-ter importance and benefits, why it should be preffered etc. Call on me if you need my help and we shall brain-storm together. THANKS
In todays day the rain water harvesting should be made compulsary in all areas it is the only way to replemish the aquafer and save ourselves, I am into project management and always this method in all my works. Pl follow this very important method to save ourselves and the world at large.
Rain water harvesting have been done since centuries,as effective monsoon rains are for 15 to 20 days every year....storm water, ice melts, start of as a stream and are joined by many as it flows down from the catchment and forms rivers as it flows in the valley....the process of constructing small check dams and storing water at every 2m level drop on every stream and channels, divert the water in storage ponds/tanks for use and recharge of water table, ban ,have 20 ft dia open wells /ponds excavated below water table every 5 acres to have year round cultivation of crops fruits and fish including drinking water, this process will alleviate poverty by utilizing the water to cultivate the dry land, create rural employment, source of earning and provide sufficient water with minimum investment, without hampering the environment, fully optimize the water source before it meets the sea
