Serving the Global Water and WasteWater Community

The tribal people in the remote corner of Thuamul Rampur Block, Kalahandi District in Orissa, India suffer due to no access to safe and clean drinking water.

I am helping the villagers in that area to have access to potable water by a Project called BSF with the help of a local NGO. This project is expected to introduce biosand filters in every home and make the village self suffcient in drinking water. The plan is to train skilled masons of  each village and employ them to fabricate the filters and install them in every house hold. Each filter can provide about 25 litres/day of clean and safe water for the people.

The project has taken off already and 5 masons have already been trained in the process of fabrication of the filters.Once the project takes off smoothly more masons will be trained

There is plenty of surface water in the area but it is very heavily contaminated and therefore unfit for human consumption. The filter is expected to remove the contamination and make the water potable.
