Event Description

An overview of the California's stormwater regulations including the General Industrial Stormwater Permit, the General Construction Stormwater Permit, Phase I and Phase II municipal permitting and programs addressing regulation of other sources of stormwater pollution including Confined Animal Feeding Operations and the Irrigated Lands Program. The history of each of the permits will be discussed and the basic requirements of each permit will be outlined.

Federal and State of California Regulations and Policies Concerning Point and Non-Point Sources of Pollution

Requirements of California's General Industrial Stormwater Permit and Applicable Best Management Practices (BMP's)

Requirements of California's General Construction Stormwater Permit and Applicable BMP's


Phase I Municipal Stormwater Permits in California and Applicable BMP's

The Phase II Stormwater Permitting Process in California

Regulation of Sources of Stormwater Pollution Including Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO's) and Irrigated Lands and Applicable BMP's

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

* Have a comprehensive understanding of stormwater regulatory requirements in California
* Understand why there are stringent laws which regulate the discharge of stormwater pollutants,
* Determine which permits a business is required to enroll under and what specific monitoring and BMP requirements apply, and
* Determine when Best Management Practices are needed and what types should be used under different circumstances.
